This is one of the last essays that Mark Twain wrote before he died. It is a total deconstruction of the Bible and Christian/American society, and therefore it wasn’t published until the late 50s. This man, with such a wit and intellect, when most are making some kind of peace with God in the sunset of their lives, literarily spits in God’s face ... or at least the IDEA what we have been lead to believe is the nature of God. Is he showing the hypocrisy of our culture for the joke that it really is? Is he one of the first in recent times to have the balls to really speak the TRUTH?
